Purpose of the Role BGIS is seeking an experienced Facilities Lead Engineer to join our Critical Infrastructure team in Norwest, supporting a highly controlled, high-availability operational environment. In this role, you will support the smooth and safe operation of complex building systems that underpin continuous 24/7 services. You will work closely with technical teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure systems are maintained, monitored, and optimised in line with safety, compliance, and performance expectations. This position suits someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, structured operational environments, and collaborative problem-solving across multiple stakeholders. ⚡ You will also play a key part in coordinating shift-based operations, supporting escalation events, and ensuring continuity of service during critical or high-priority incidents. Key Responsibilities Operational & Technical Support * Support the operation and maintenance of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure to maintain high system availability * Monitor building systems (including HVAC, power, and control systems) and respond to alerts in line with procedures * Assist in maintaining operational documentation including MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs * Carry out routine inspections, plant checks, and non-critical maintenance activities * Support root cause analysis and incident response activities where required Shift Coordination & Oversight * Support coordination of shift activities and ensure smooth handover between teams * Provide coverage support for operational leadership during absence periods * Assist in ensuring work orders, permits, and contractor activities are completed safely and on time * Contribute to scheduling, tracking, and completion of planned and reactive maintenance tasks * Maintain strong communication with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to support service continuity * Ensure compliance with safety procedures, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements * Support accurate reporting across operational activity, incidents, and maintenance works Education, Experience & Skills Essential: * Trade qualification or technical background in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or building services * Experience working in a 24/7 high-availability or critical environment * Strong understanding of building infrastructure systems (power, cooling, UPS, generators, etc.) * Experience working with operational procedures (MOPs, SOPs, EOPs) * Ability to work under pressure while maintaining focus on safety and accuracy * Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with operational systems/tools * Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites if required Desirable: * Experience in data centre or highly regulated technical environments * Exposure to CMMS or facility management systems * Understanding of compliance frameworks and safety systems * Experience supporting or mentoring technical team members Workplace Flexibility This role is based on-site in Norwest, Sydney, within a structured, safety-focused operational environment that requires consistent site presence to support 24/7 operations.
