About the role The Facilities Lead plays a key leadership role in delivering efficient, compliant and customer-focused facilities and operational services across NESA. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role coordinates and supports a team responsible for the day-to-day management of buildings, accommodation, assets and essential workplace services that enable the organisation to operate effectively. This is a great opportunity for an experienced facilities professional to lead service delivery in a complex public sector environment, influence policy and process improvement, and work closely with a broad range of stakeholders. You’ll have autonomy within delegated authority, the opportunity to shape a customer-centric facilities function, and the chance to lead meaningful projects that support NESA’s people and objectives. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for: Leading and managing the Facilities Team to deliver high-quality, timely and cost-effective facilities and operational services Developing, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures, systems and performance frameworks for facilities operations Managing stakeholder relationships through clear communication, negotiation and effective issue resolution to ensure compliant service delivery Overseeing office space planning, accommodation allocation and the project management of relocations, refurbishments and building projects Managing asset lifecycles, including maintenance programs, acquisition specifications and systems to prioritise and track service requests Preparing budget estimates, project costings and overseeing procurement and contract management for facilities-related services Ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety legislation, relevant building codes, government standards and due-diligence requirements Supporting business continuity planning and contributing to emergency management activities Making informed decisions within delegated authority and escalating significant risks or issues as required Our ideal candidate will have: A strong, customer-focused communication style, with the ability to understand problems, find practical solutions with limited information, and manage stakeholder expectations in a complex service environment Demonstrated experience delivering facilities or operational services while balancing competing priorities, budget constraints and long-term planning requirements Proven ability to build collaborative relationships, resolve issues effectively and establish a customer-centric service culture Experience leading teams, setting clear expectations, supporting performance and fostering capability development Knowledge of relevant legislation, building codes and standards, and a thorough understanding of government processes Experience in procurement, contract and project management, including managing vendors and service providers to agreed performance standards Essential requirements: Tertiary qualifications in a building-related discipline, project management, or facilities management (and/or relevant industry experience) Current driver’s licence We invite you to download the role description for additional information on the position.
