About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Engineer to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our food production equipment, site facilities, and promotional assets. This is a varied and essential role that combines mechanical engineering expertise with facilities management, supporting the continued success of our growing food business.
You’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a range of production equipment—particularly vertical form fill seal (VFFS) machines and commercial pasta machines—as well as handling general site maintenance, including minor electrical work, painting, and support for marketing event equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance on all food production and packing machinery, including VFFS and commercial pasta machines
- Quickly diagnose and repair mechanical issues to minimise production downtime
- Manage and complete general property maintenance, including minor electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry tasks
- Maintain and prepare equipment used for promotional and marketing events
- Implement and manage a regular maintenance schedule for all key machinery and facilities
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs
- Monitor spare parts inventory and ensure availability of tools and consumables
- Ensure all work is compliant with health & safety and food hygiene standards
- Collaborate with the production team to minimise disruption during maintenance
Requirements
- Proven experience in a maintenance engineering or facilities role within a food production or FMCG environment
- Strong mechanical skills, especially with VFFS machines, packing lines, and pasta equipment
- Confident in carrying out a broad range of facilities-related tasks, including minor electrical work
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Able to work independently, take initiative, and respond flexibly to urgent issues
- Understanding of HACCP, food hygiene, and workplace health & safety standards
