Description KHS is in search for a part-time maintenance/light custodial team member to support the facilities requirements of our organization with an emphasis on routine maintenance and upkeep of grounds with some custodial. The Kitsap Humane Society (KHS) is a progressive animal welfare shelter whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome homeless animals. We are committed to an open admissions policy, animal rehabilitation and a low euthanasia rate. Job Duties: · Assists Facilities Manager in maintenance and minor repairs to plumbing, electrical, and HVAC; may perform routine carpentry work. · Assists Facilities Manager with repairs and maintenance of buildings by patching walls and doors, painting walls and trim, and replacing fixtures and partitions; replaces damaged ceiling and floor tiles, repairs carpet. · Assists Facilities Manager with maintenance and minor repairs to equipment. · Preventive maintenance: Routinely checks the functioning of various facility systems and helps identify maintenance requirements before breakdowns occur. · Communicates on a regular basis with the Facilities Manager regarding issues, prioritization of tasks. · Collects and disposes of waste, maintains outside sidewalks, and assists in keeping outside premises in an orderly condition. · Assists with Mowing and fertilizing lawn, plants and maintains flower beds. Trims trees and bushes and removes unwanted growth from around the property. · Performs janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, pressure washing, etc. as needed. · Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and removes shelter garbage as needed. · Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Qualifications and Requirements: 1. Job related experience preferred. On the job training is available 2. Valid Washington State Drivers license and the ability to be insured. 3. Good communication skills. 4. Take and follow instructions. 5. Good organizational skills. 6. Ability to work as a team or independently. 7. Must pass a comprehensive background check. Hours: · 25 hours per week. Physical Requirements: · Ability to push 100 pounds (equipment carts and such). · Ability to lift at least 50 pounds (trash, supplies, equipment, building supplies, etc.). · Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc., as job may require. · Ability to climb a ladder and step ladder. · Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. · Must be able to endure physical exertion for several hours at a time. · Must be able to crawl into small spaces (i.e., attics, crawl spaces). · Safely use manual tools and power equipment common in maintenance and custodial environments.
