Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location, the Facilities Maintenance Technician will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor of the Facilities department. The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment, both automated and manual.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum education of a High School Diploma is required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a maintenance group.
  • Basic level computer skills in MS Office products.
  • Safety training certificates are an asset for the position including elevated work platform, fall arrest, forklift and crane.
  • Due to the safety sensitive nature of this position successful candidates will undergo pre-employment substance abuse and medical testing upon hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  • Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
  • Continuous standing, walking 600-1000 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
  • Must be able to lift and handle up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force up to 20 lbs.
  • Typing, punching or applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
  • Perceiving size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with the fingertips.

Responsibilities
  • Perform minor electrical maintenance to include but not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords).
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
  • Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. hanging doors, fitting locks).
  • Assist in the fabrication of walls, installation of doors and windows, paint selection and preparation.
  • Monitor control systems, building heating and refrigeration systems and fire detection and protection systems.
  • Emergency and preventative maintenance on equipment throughout facility.
  • Assisting production and manufacturing engineers with process and machinery improvements.
  • Maintenance and operation of floor cleaning equipment.
  • Emptying of all shop floor garbage and cardboard.
  • Promotes a safety culture as well as attends all safety meetings.
  • Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.
  • Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized.
  • Other duties as required.
