SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Maintenance the Facilities Manager will oversee the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of bus transit facilities, ensuring all equipment, systems, and infrastructure operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes direct oversight of specialized transit systems such as Koni bus lifts, Gasboy fueling systems, electric bus charging stations, and other critical transit facility assets. The role requires a proven leader with strong people management skills and experience, technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to drive strategic facility initiatives in a complex operational environment. The Facilites Manager will manage and oversee multi-shift and multi-location transportation operations.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 7-10+ years of progressively responsible facilities management or related experience. * Minimum 5+ years in managerial capacity leading a diverse union work force.
  • Minimum 4+ years of strategic facilities and project management experience in a complex operational environment.
  • Proven experience with specialized transit systems (Koni lifts, fueling systems, electric bus charging stations).

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong project management, people leadership, and operational planning skills.
  • Broad knowledge of construction, building maintenance, and mechanical systems (plumbing, electrical).
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong budgeting, cost control, and vendor management expertise.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, solve complex problems, and adapt established methods to new situations.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities with speed, accuracy, and a focus on safety.
  • High degree of confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations for bus transit facilities, including maintenance bays, fueling stations, charging stations, wash bays, and storage facilities.
  • Ensure optimal performance and upkeep of specialized systems, including:
  • Koni bus lifts (inspection, service, compliance)
  • Gasboy fueling systems (monitoring, calibration, leak detection)
  • Electric bus charging stations (maintenance, vendor coordination, troubleshooting)
  • Support the preventive maintenance programs for all transit facility equipment, ensuring asset reliability and extended lifecycle.
  • Manage building systems (plumbing, electrical,) and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
