Description Job Summary The Facilities Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all activities related to the evaluation, installation, modification, fixturing, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facility systems within the plant. This role ensures that departmental operations align with company objectives and standards while providing strong leadership to a team of maintenance and technical professionals. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Develop and enforce standards and policies for the installation, modification, testing, inspection, operation, and maintenance of plant equipment. Test and validate newly installed machinery to ensure compliance with specifications, safety requirements, and operational efficiency. Establish and manage preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all equipment and systems. Oversee and drive opportunities to maximize and improve machine uptime, capacity, and overall efficiency. Partner with Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering to enhance process efficiency, improve part quality, and optimize machine capabilities. Oversee special projects involving equipment modifications or redesigns to enhance performance and meet operational requirements. Lead the maintenance and upkeep of plant facilities, including planning renovations, conducting site surveys, and preparing documentation for bids and contracts. Manage facility services, including snow removal, janitorial contracts (office and window cleaning), and the procurement and inventory of janitorial supplies. Oversee all waste streams—garbage, recycling, electronic waste, hazardous waste, and chemical waste—ensuring proper handling, disposal, and regulatory compliance. Prepare and submit required regulatory documentation to government agencies to ensure ongoing compliance. Forecast and manage departmental operating costs; lead the development of annual budget requests. Support goal setting by helping direct reports develop annual objectives aligned with organizational priorities. Ensure safety compliance by overseeing maintenance activities in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards. Prioritize and assign work orders based on preventive maintenance schedules, project needs, and operational urgency. Supervise 10–20 team members in the Plant Engineering Department, providing leadership, guidance, and accountability in alignment with company values and policies. Lead recruitment efforts, including interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new staff. Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and timely completion of departmental tasks. Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support employee growth and development. Manage disciplinary actions and terminations in accordance with HR policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Technical four-year degree strongly preferred. 5+ years of experience leading a team and/or supervising employees. Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Advanced troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills. Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret reports, technical procedures, governmental regulations, business correspondence, justifications, and procedure manuals. Solid understanding of management practices and techniques. Good understanding of machining concepts, machine tool construction, maintenance, and operating principles. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and guide others. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and execute. Proven time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Frequent standing, and walking; Occasional bending, kneeling and stooping. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
