This role demands deep technical expertise, strategic vision, and hands-on leadership in systems such as air handlers, chillers, boilers, and pumping infrastructure. The ideal candidate thrives in multidisciplinary environments and brings a proven ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and elevate mechanical and control systems performance. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end mechanical design from concept through production, ensuring robust, efficient, and compliant systems. Partner with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) teams to drive proactive and responsive maintenance strategies. Establish and refine facility standards, maintenance protocols, and site-specific operating procedures. Troubleshoot complex system issues, recommending and implementing corrective actions with precision. Produce detailed AutoCAD drawings, submittals, and specifications tailored to site requirements. Basic Qualifications Current Top Secret SCI security clearance and the ability to pass a polygraph. Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with 8–12 years of experience, or Master’s with 6–10 years. Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in good standing or ability to obtain PE within a reasonable time frame. Minimum 8 years of experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, industrial, or government facilities. Strong command of building and energy codes; capable of performing load calculations, duct and piping layouts, and equipment sizing. Expertise in AutoCAD and familiarity with EMCS/FMCS systems. Demonstrated ability to resolve complex, multidisciplinary technical challenges. Exceptional communication skills; able to engage senior leadership and stakeholders on technical strategy and execution. Proven success in developing and implementing commercial HVAC systems. Preferred Qualifications Current Polygraph Recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in mechanical systems. PE certification. Field experience in mechanical construction, systems integration, and testing. Proficiency in project management: scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning. At Leidos, we don’t want someone who "fits the mold"—we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, “what’s next?” before the dust settles on “what’s now.” If you’re already scheming step 20 while everyone else is still debating step 2… good. You’ll fit right in. Original Posting: October 26, 2025 For U.S. Positions: While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above. Pay Range: Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
