Position: Facilities Officer
Reporting to: Dpt. Regional General Manager
Location: Birkenhead (Wirral), with travel to other sites across the Northwest.
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (typically Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00)
Salary: £26,000 – £29,000 per annum, subject to experience and qualifications.
Argyle Satellite are looking for a proactive and dedicated Facilities Officer to support our Northwest operations teams in Chester, Liverpool, Manchester and Wirral.
In this role you will play a key part in maintain our facilities, ensuring compliance with heath and safety, supporting procurement activities and acting as a first point of contact for building-related issues across multiple sites. You will also assist with staff training, reporting and maintaining our infrastructure. This is a hands-on role that will suit someone who enjoys varied challenges and working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the maintenance and day-to-day operation of company premises, facilities and infrastructure to ensure a safe, clean and efficient working environment.
  • Coordinate building services such as cleaning, security, catering and parking, and oversee repairs, refurbishments and contractor activity across all sites.
  • Assist in meeting company and regulatory health and safety obligations, including conducting audits, site inspections and incident investigations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date health and safety documentation and support the planning and delivery of staff training on safe working practices.
  • Carry out routine safety checks including fire alarm testing, and help enforce site safety rules, policies and procedures.
  • Undertake minor maintenance and repair tasks and manage stock levels for tools, equipment and operational supplies.
  • Assist with purchasing and procurement tasks, including liaising with suppliers, sourcing quotes and managing stock levels of business-critical supplies.
  • Provide basic support for company-issued devices and assist with meeting logistics, reports and general administrative duties as needed.
  • Handle telephone and email correspondence professionally, responding to enquiries or escalating issues to relevant departments as required.

About you:

~ Essential

  • Hold a valid driving license, have access to a vehicle and be willing to travel throughout the Northwest – e.g. Chester, Liverpool, Manchester and Wirral.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role, such as: Administrative Assistant, Health and Safety Advisor, Facilities Coordinator, Maintenance Operative or equivalent.
  • General knowledge and experience in health and safety.
  • Physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual tasks (with PPE provided) in a variety of environments, including basic repairs and other works.
  • IT literate with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and a familiarity with Android and iOS phones.
  • Organised, self-motivated and capable of working independently.

~ Desirable

  • Relevant skills (ideally active or previously qualified) to undertake electrical, plumbing, carpentry or painting and decorating.
  • Experience completing fire alarm tests, fire evacuation drills, risk assessments, COSHH assessments and DSEAR assessments; working as a train-the-trainer, internal auditor, incident fact finder or equivalent; or working to ISO standards.
  • Educated to IOSH Level 3, NVQ Level 3 Health & Safety, NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
