Primary objective
This position provides day-to-day operational support to Health Centre Managers and acts as a central coordination point
for accommodation inspection, cleaning, repairs and maintenance requests and fleet management.
Context statement
This position is based in Alyangula, however the applicant is required to work across all health centres on Groote Eylandt.
Applicants must have experience driving a manual vehicle, with eligibility to obtain a NT Drivers licence and be able to travel
via 4WD or light aircraft to remote communities. Accommodation is not provided with this position.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Ensure regular inspection, cleaning and maintenance of short-term accommodation for visiting nurses and staff including
completion of small handyman tasks as required are conducted. Conduct regular yard maintenance.
2. Manage and maintain inventory lists for each house and carry out minor purchasing as required. Maintain key register.
3. Conduct outgoing inspections and coordinate bond cleans, if required, on departure of long-term tenants.
4. Maintain a central database to track and monitor the progress of facilities cleaning, maintenance and repairs.
5. Liaise with and monitor the work of outside contractors to ensure the satisfactory completion of work.
6. Maintain effective operation support, including the maintenance and cleaning of fleet vehicles as required.
7. Receive, unpack and distribute stores and provide a courier service between health centres and Sea Swift as required.
8. Act as a resource for others and provide support and guidance regarding the safe and proper use of cleaning chemicals
and equipment in adherence to workplace policies.
9. Assist with moving furniture and fittings or engage with local furniture removalists if required.
10. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
11. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven ability to work within a cross-cultural environment and communicate effectively with people from diverse
cultures.
2. Self-motivated with the ability to track and manage workload while working independently with limited supervision.
3. Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including experience with the effective use of a range of office applications and
spreadsheets.
4. Demonstrated administration and organisational skills, including the ability to work on agreed priorities and maintain
accurate records and files.
5. Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
