Position Summary: Our Facilities Technician I maintains the appearance, structure and safety of our buildings, vehicles, and grounds, as well as performs general facility maintenance tasks. Teach maintenance and renovation skills to residents at sites where vocational training programs are in place. Primary responsibilities: Maintain buildings, grounds, and facility vehicles Perform basic repairs, landscaping, and furniture upkeep Assist with construction and equipment troubleshooting Ensure safety compliance and support vocational training programs Other Recognize and value cultural differences in all aspects of work and service delivery Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds unassisted and up to 125+ pounds with assistance. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours). Must be able to climb ladders, work at tall heights and crawl in tight spaces. Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily maintenance activities as required above. Requirements Required: High School diploma or GED required. 2 years related work experience in building maintenance, construction or a related trade. Must possess proven skills in at least 2 of the following areas: plumbing, woodworking, general electrical, vehicle maintenance or landscaping. Must have the ability to meet Life Safety codes. Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges. Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values. Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements Preferred: 3+ years’ experience with building maintenance, construction, or related trade.
