The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
About the role:
This role supports the daily operations of the Gold Coast AOD Service (Fairhaven), encompassing administration, catering, groundskeeping, maintenance, and coordination of volunteers.
The aim is to ensure the Centre functions efficiently and effectively, enhancing services across the Division and providing a safe, supportive environment for individuals affected by alcohol and drug dependency—all in alignment with the mission of The Salvation Army (TSA).
How You Will Make an Impact:

Operational Administration

  • Assist the Centre Manager with overseeing all operational and financial aspects of the Centre, including:
  • Managing property-related needs across all services within the Centre
  • Coordinating and maintaining Centre vehicle use
  • Handling cash and banking duties as required
  • Support the development of Business Operations staff and volunteers through mentoring, training, coaching, and empowerment to fulfill their roles and align with TSA’s mission
  • Provide human resources and work health & safety (WH&S) support
  • Uphold TSA’s values and mission, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery
  • Participate in the recruitment, supervision, development, and performance appraisal of staff

Record Management

  • Maintain and archive manual and digital records in accordance with TSA and legal standards

Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory and organizational requirements.

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Management, Finance, or a related discipline, with experience in rehabilitation or similar social services environments—or a relevant tertiary qualification with applicable experience
  • Qualifications or substantial experience in rehabilitation or other social support contexts
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in working with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviours
