POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association (HSCA) is a vibrant, inclusive community center in the Kensington area offering community-based programming, sports and recreation Facility, and private hall rentals for business functions and special events. Part-time team members in our Facility Services Department assist with event set-up/take-down and general cleaning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Police Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Verification
  • Punctual, reliable, and capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Physically able to lift 40 lbs and can move tables, stacks of chairs, and other programming equipment
  • Experience in institutional, office, and commercial kitchen cleaning
  • An understanding of computerized scheduling systems and strong written communication skills

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide friendly customer service to HSCA members, renters, event participants, and the general public
  • Perform set-ups and take downs for HSCA community events, public events, private functions, and sport/recreation events
  • Complete general custodial and maintenance duties related to a public Community Centre that offers recreation, private hall rentals, neighbour support, seniors’ services, and childcare
  • Shifts can occasionally run late or start early. Public transit may not always be available; however, parking is available at HSCA.

Facility Attendants that have completed a three-month probationary period, are experienced in opening and closing the building, have been issued building keys, and have been issued alarm codes may be eligible for designated Facility Associate shifts. Additional Facility Associate duties will include

  • Ensuring the duties and responsibilities of all staff on shift are completed to the appropriate standard
  • Completing all shift documentation, check sheets, shift reports, and incident reports
  • Provide orientation and training to a Facility Team Lead that is in their first 12 weeks of employmen
