SUMMARY: The General Maintenance position is responsible for maintaining the overall condition, safety, and functionality of the group home(s). This includes performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, ensuring a clean and safe environment for residents and staff, and addressing any maintenance needs in a timely and efficient manner. The Maintenance Worker should have a broad knowledge of various maintenance trades. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Job Coach for Mentally Disabled Adults Provide guidance and support to a small caseload of individuals with disabilities who actively participate in job duties. Monitor the comfort and safety of individuals served, ensuring their medical, nutritional, and personal care needs are met. Support individuals in achieving their personal goals. Interact with individuals in an empathetic and respectful manner. Facility Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on the interior and exterior of the group home(s), including but not limited to: Plumbing: Repairing leaks, unclogging drains, and basic plumbing fixture replacement. Electrical: Replacing light bulbs, switches, and outlets; troubleshooting minor electrical issues. Carpentry: Basic repairs to doors, windows, cabinets, and furniture. Painting: Touch-up painting and occasional full painting of rooms or areas. Drywall repair: Patching holes and repairing damaged walls. Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and address maintenance needs proactively. Ensure that all safety systems (fire alarms, smoke detectors, etc.) are functioning correctly. Perform minor repairs to sidewalks, driveways, and fences. Equipment and Appliance Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on household appliances (e.g., refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers). Ensure that all equipment is in safe operating condition. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Report any safety hazards or concerns to the Site Manager immediately. Ensure the facility meets all applicable building codes and regulations. Other Duties: Assist with moving furniture or equipment as needed. Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment. Communicate effectively with residents and staff regarding maintenance requests and schedules. Complete work orders and maintain accurate records of work performed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Manager. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Proven experience in general maintenance and repair, preferably in a residential or similar setting. Broad knowledge of various maintenance trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively. Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license and a good driving record may be required. Must be 21 years of age or older PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Additional certifications or training in specific maintenance trades. Experience working in a group home or similar environment. Knowledge of building codes and regulations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb. Ability to work in various weather conditions. Ability to use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily indoors and outdoors at group home facilities. Exposure to various cleaning chemicals and materials. May be exposed to loud noises. May be required to work occasional evenings or weekends, and be on-call for emergencies. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent. Position requires certification in CPR and first aid.
