SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is considered an asset
  • Experience in maintenance of a commercial property, including knowledge of mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts (weekends and evening), be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft applications such as Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Ability to provide a clear criminal record check for Health Canada Security Clearance

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Refrigeration Plant operator certificate (RPO)
  • (Ice facility Operator certificates will be considered based on experience)
  • 4th Class Power Engineer or higher

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to perform physical tasks required for a 10-11.5-hour shift period, including but not limited to: standing, walking, climbing, bending/reaching (repetitive), pushing/pulling, lifting (up to 20 kgs), shoveling snow, and squatting.
· Ability to work in environments with warm temperature, humidity, and variable lighting.
· This position will involve exposure to cannabis/plant materials and is therefore not suitable for anyone that suffers from allergies to cannabis or plant pollen, or for anyone that experiences medical issues such as asthma or hay fever because of exposure to cannabis/plant materials.
This position is eligible for 4th class steam time

Responsibilities
  • Inspects Ammonia Chiller plant in accordance with conditions established by the provincial safety manager (Technical Safety BC)
  • Provides observations about facility, facility mechanical and electrical equipment, and systems conditions and deficiencies and provides suggestions for enhancement and repair
  • Performs regular facility, mechanical and other equipment and systems monitoring inspections, preventative, and corrective maintenance
  • Assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance (PM) program. Ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded, and that related documents are maintained
  • Complete maintenance work in a timely manner to minimize downtime and provide uninterrupted service
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed according to Standard Operating Procedures, regulatory requirements, and physical security restrictions
  • Assists with development and updating of standard operating procedures and assists with development of preventative maintenance programs and maintenance schedules
  • Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of all facilities, including heating, cooling, plumbing, electrical and structural systems
  • Maintaining up to date maintenance logs and reports. Identifying maintenance and safety concerns and implementing necessary compliance and repair
  • Oversee external service provider and ensures preventative maintenance work is completed as per the contracts
  • Ensure compliance with safety matters under health & safety legislations.
  • Assists Grow Reset Team if required
  • Other duties as assigned.
