Easterseals Academy is a therapeutic school that provides schooling for children with an autism spectrum disorder, emotional disability, developmental delay, or intellectual disability. School districts refer students to Easterseals Academy where the schools provide an alternative school placement for these students to help them to achieve independence. Easterseals Academy has three campuses, located in Chicago, Machesney Park, and Tinley Park. For more information about our organization, please visit us online at www.eastersealschicago.org. The Facility Manager’s primary responsibility is to perform building maintenance at the Easterseals Academy Machesney Park Campus as well as at other Easterseals program sites as needed, to support the health and safety of Easterseals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford’s students/clients, families, and staff. This position is located at the Easterseals Academy - Machesney Park Campus at 8301 Mitchelle Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115. MAJOR FUNCTIONS/ACCOUNTABILITIES: Perform and Coordinate Building Maintenance Respond to facility maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner, utilizing Easterseals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford’s facilities ticketing system. Organize and coordinate duties to ensure completion of projects in accordance with pre-determined timelines. Proactively evaluate and identify site maintenance issues and work to resolve deficiencies. Establish strong relationships with outside vendors and secure three comparative bids for work requiring outside vendors. Perform building maintenance, including but not limited to performing rough and finished carpentry, repairing plumbing fixtures and/or installing new plumbing fixtures, repairing drywall and tile floors as needed, repairing and installing electrical equipment as needed, painting as needed, operating and regulating the building HVAC system, and repairing various furnishings. Collaborate with janitorial service(s) to problem solve and ensure the building is ready to meet participant demands in a clean and sanitary manner at all times. Coordinate facility rental schedules with janitorial services to ensure the facility is in excellent condition for all participants and tenants. Order maintenance, cleaning, paper products, hand soaps, and sanitizers, as required. Ensure that all entries are safe and accessible at all times. Maintain the security alarm system in coordination with the vendor. Respond to emergency building maintenance calls. Maintain Complete and Accurate Health & Safety Records Maintain and submit as required all necessary safety and security records, including but not limited to a daily building safety checklist, quarterly facility inspection report, master key log, and material data safety sheets. Manage Facility Operations Open the building in the morning, complete inspections, and inform both sr. Manager of facilities and building administration of any impending issues that may affect operations. Participate in meetings with the Principal and/or designee to discuss impending issues, including operations, maintenance, and/or janitorial issues that may affect operations. Conduct, schedule, and lead inspections of designated facilities and/or equipment (including buses) and complete required reports. Develop and monitor bus lane traffic flow patterns to ensure safety procedures are followed for AM and PM bus loading/unloading. Serve as key safety lead Participate in Health and Safety Committee meetings. Ensure Easterseals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford’s Emergency Action Procedures are followed in the event of an emergency Play a lead role in facilitating safety drills All other duties as assigned. Requirements Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED. Experience Required Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in building trades, maintenance, or equivalent job experience with progressive levels of responsibility. Vehicle/Transportation Requirements: Valid driver’s license. Valid bus driver’s permit. Auto insurance. Reliable vehicle. Skills/Abilities: Ability to effectively prioritize and multitask in a high-stress environment. Ability to interact with diverse personalities. Skilled in construction/building trades. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to complete and maintain records and reports. Ability to develop professional and effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Eligible for Driver Certification.
