Job Description

The Facility Operations Program Coordinator – Rockne Memorial is at the center of creating outstanding experiences for students and community members at one of Notre Dame’s most iconic recreational facilities. Working alongside the Assistant Director of Aquatics & Facility Operations – Rockne Memorial, you’ll play a key role in keeping programs and facilities running smoothly while building a strong, motivated team.
As the coordinator, you’ll take the lead in recruiting, training, and mentoring a talented student staff of Recreation Attendants and Operations Supervisors. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across the Smith Center and Joyce Center – North Dome to ensure operations are seamless across all RecSports venues. From overseeing daily facility logistics to shaping a positive and inclusive environment for participants, your work will directly contribute to the energy and spirit of campus life.
This role is a great fit for someone who loves bringing people together, takes pride in developing student leaders, and enjoys the challenge of keeping busy facilities safe, welcoming, and fun. It’s more than just operations—it’s about building community, supporting wellness, and helping students thrive.
This position is a full-time, in-person, 12-month role, with various evening and weekend responsibilities throughout the academic year, as well as some limited evening and weekend responsibilities throughout the summer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. Major in recreation administration, sport management, leisure studies, physical education, kinesiology, or comparable degree.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, customer service, team building, and decision-making skills.
  • 2-3 years of work experience in facilities in higher education.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and work in a team atmosphere
  • The successful candidate will also possess a commitment to the University’s Catholic, Holy Cross mission

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess a current CPR, AED, and First Aid Instructor certification, or the ability to obtain
  • Lifeguard Certification and/or ability to obtain
  • Two-year graduate assistantship in Recreation/Student Affairs Facility Operations & Management, Membership Services, or another related area
  • Experience working in an aquatics facility, specifically with a recreational pool and/or waterfront
  • Experience working with WhenToWork and InnoSoft Fusion recreation management software.

    Salary: Up to $47,000

Responsibilities

ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates as an integral member of a large, multifaceted Student Development team interacting daily with colleagues in the Office of Community Standards, Student Activities Office, University Bands, Family Resource Center and student media groups.
  • Serve as an integral member of the Facilities Team, comprised of facility operations coordinators, an assistant director, and an associate director.
  • Represent RecSports on campus-wide committees.
  • Assist with RecSports special events.
  • Attend and actively participate in Division of Student Affairs events, programs, and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
