OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly capable and cross-functional Factory Application Engineer with a strong foundation in computer programming, electrical design, and mechanical systems. This role plays a critical part in the product development lifecycle, ensuring that complex systems are designed, tested, and supported with a holistic, systems-level approach. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across hardware and software domains and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, customer-focused solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, Test Development, or Applications Engineering.
  • Proficiency in software development using Python, C, C++, and/or C#, especially for hardware interfacing and automation.
  • Experience with instrumentation programming, test program development, and automated test systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical design, including schematics, PCB layout, and signal integrity.
  • Solid background in mechanical design, including CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and mechanical integration.
  • Familiarity with thermal management, including heat transfer analysis and cooling strategies.
  • Knowledge of software test methodologies, test case modeling, and automated validation techniques.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the software and product test group by developing applications and test cases targeting Teradyne test equipment, ensuring product quality and performance before release.
  • Provide systems-level insight during product development, offering a customer-centric perspective to influence design decisions.
  • Assist in debugging product issues across electrical, mechanical, and software domains in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Deliver technical support during product demonstrations and customer evaluations.
  • Stay current with evolving technologies, assess their impact, and advocate for innovative solutions in new product development.
  • Design and implement automated test systems, integrating software, electrical interfaces, and mechanical fixtures.
  • Analyze and optimize thermal, electrical, and mechanical performance of integrated systems.
  • Develop and maintain software tools and scripts for test automation, data analysis, and system diagnostics.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, test procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
