THIS ROLE IS OPEN TO INTERNAL UCL APPLICANTS ONLY
Under the direction of the Director of Operations, Arts and Humanities (DoO A&H), and working closely with senior staff in the Faculty (including for example the Dean, A&H; Senior PS Leads; HoDs and Vice Deans) as well as colleagues in functional areas and Change teams at institutional level, the Faculty Change Lead will lead on and facilitate a number of strategic change projects for the Faculty.
THIS ROLE IS OPEN TO INTERNAL UCL APPLICANTS ONLY
You will be responsible for ensuring the change approach used aligns with Best Practice standards defined by the pan-UCL Programmes, such as that for Service Simplification, and that any overarching design is in line with the strategic UCL direction for the PS operating model. Each of the projects you will lead on has the potential to have significant impact on the model for professional services (PS) support in A&H. This role will be key in ensuring that any such change is managed proactively, effectively and aligned to our values.
The projects will be as follows:
- To act as the A&H Lead on our engagement with the Service Simplification This will require an understanding of both departmental and Faculty level HR, Finance and Research Finance resources and operations, and the lifecycles and Central Services systems and processes pertaining to these, to ensure that the postholder can translate vision and need into actuality. They will work closely with all stakeholders on this and will be responsible for ensuring the Faculty context is understood and considered, that all voices are heard and the benefits of any such change is evidenced both strategically and by the data.
- The second will be to support the work needed to review the Operating Model for our Marketing and Communications function, with the potential for a new Model to be rolled out. This will support both our Faculty priorities and align us with pan-UCL strategic aims including those of the Vice President External Engagement. Under the direction of the DoO, A&H and leadership of the Head of Marketing and Communications, A&H, the Change Lead will again work closely with all stakeholders on this and will be responsible for ensuring the Faculty context is understood and considered, that all voices are heard and the benefits of any such change is evidenced both strategically and by the data. Dependent on timings and outcomes, they may also potentially support on subsequent phases of the MarComms roll out for Arts and Humanities.
- They will also work closely with the Head of Education and Student Experience (as A&H EASE Programme Lead) to ensure the successful delivery of the EASE Project. This will include coordinating Town Hall events and ‘stage-gate’ meetings with the Faculty’s Decision-Making Group; planning and drafting appropriate communications; gathering and interpreting appropriate information to ensure data-driven decision making; and ensuring compliance with formal HR policies and procedures (e.g. the Organisational Change procedure), including leading formal consultation meetings where appropriate
- Finally, they will support a smaller change evaluation project as directed by the DoO, A&H to evaluate departmental or Faculty PS support needs with a view to, for example, the potential for us to cluster PS resource for our smaller departments. This work has already begun but now needs coordination to enable it to reach resolution.
In order to ensure that the postholder have a full understanding of A&H PS needs, the postholder will attend relevant meetings as A&H Change Lead. This will be at institutional; Faculty and Departmental level so will also enable them to develop their understanding of UCL priorities and raise their own profile in the organisation.
