Join Ornge’s Clinical Affairs team as a Faculty Educator and help shape the next generation of emergency care professionals.
In this dynamic role, you’ll collaborate with internal partners to design and deliver high-impact education programs that support the development of front-line paramedics. With a focus on Ornge’s Emergency First Responder and Registered Nurse programs, you’ll play a key part in ensuring our teams are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide exceptional care in critical situations.

INITIAL EDUCATION:

  • Responsible for the design, development, and delivery of assigned initial education content (Emergency First Responder Program, Mental Health team, and Flight RN Program).
  • Evaluation and assessment of learner achievement or progression within a program.
  • Support the Program Leads and accountable Manager in ensuring that the design, development, delivery, and assessment of education meets or exceeds the requirements outlined by Accreditation Canada and incorporates academic best practices.
  • Provide direction to Initial Education learners throughout program.
  • Provide direction and support to PPMs/CPLs, who may deliver initial education content.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field as a Critical Care Paramedic, Advanced Care Flight Paramedic, Registered Nurse (Critical Care/Emergency), or Respiratory Therapy.
  • Minimum of five years of independent practice in a related health care field (Paramedic, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy).
  • 2 years’ educational experience in teaching health professionals.
  • Specific education and experience in adult education, or health care simulation education.
  • Experience in the use of low and medium simulation equipment.
  • Maintenance of Professional Certification/Clinical Activity (including Paramedics, through Base Hospital certification).
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and delivery of adult education in various environments using a variety of media including simulation.
  • Knowledge of the ambulance system in the Province of Ontario; specifically, the relationships between the MOH and Base Hospitals.
  • Completion of Indigenous Cultural Safety Training.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Suite and various audio/visual equipment set up
Responsibilities
  • Participation in activities of mentorship and education, such as leading “train-the-trainer program sessions” for PPMs/CPLs delivering education.
  • Support Simulation Specialists in planning equipment/space needs for delivery of simulations and base labs, recording educational resources and supporting simulation-based assessments.
  • Complete individual Professional Development plan throughout the academic year (to be discussed and approved annually with respective Manager).
  • Overall, provide innovative instructional concepts and techniques to facilitate all clinician learning, pulling from expert backgrounds and training (CCP, RN, RRT), while providing positive and safe learning spaces for all colleagues and learners.
