Come and join our team of world-class veterinary specialists and scholars at Canada’s top-ranked and the 6th globally ranked, Ontario Veterinary College. The Department of Clinical Studies at the University of Guelph invites applications for a full-time 12-month contractually limited position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Applicants interested in a part-time appointment will be considered. The anticipated start date for this appointment is January 5, 2026, or another mutually agreed-upon date.
Applicants must have a DVM (or equivalent) and be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Province of Ontario. The applicant must be a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) or the European College of Equine Internal Medicine (ECEIM). Applications may also be considered from candidates who have completed an ACVIM/ECEIM-approved residency training program and are eligible for examination. A graduate research degree and experience in research and teaching are highly desirable. The ideal candidate should have strong skills in the clinical practice of large animal internal medicine in a team-based environment and outstanding teaching and communication skills. The successful candidate will work with three other board-certified large animal internists and three LAIM residents covering equine and food animal medicine. Much of your effort will be dedicated to teaching large animal medicine to DVM students and medicine residents, including managing patients and consultation in the Large Animal Hospital of the Ontario Veterinary College-Health Sciences Centre (OVC-HSC).
The Department has board-certified specialists in surgery, medicine, anesthesiology, critical care, diagnostic imaging, oncology, ophthalmology, neurology, nutrition, and cardiology to provide didactic and clinical instruction in veterinary medicine and related disciplines to veterinary students, interns, residents, and graduate students. The OVC-HSC offers state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment including but not limited to a 1.5 Tesla high field General Electric MRI, CT, digital radiology, PACS system, state-of-the-art ultrasonography, scintigraphy, video endoscopy, rehabilitation services, and a 24/7 staffed intensive care facility.
On-call duties will be remunerated in addition to base salary, and the schedule will be shared equitably with other LAIM faculty members. The candidate is expected to participate in opportunities for independent or collaborative research. The successful candidate will mentor and supervise LAIM residents and interns on a scheduled basis.
The faculty and staff of the Department of Clinical Studies and the OVC-HSC are committed to delivering the very best patient care, research, and world-class veterinary education to Improve Life. The department highly values indigence, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and applications from equity-deserving groups are strongly encouraged.
