BCIT’s School of Business and Media is seeking a temporary, part-time (0.13 FTE) Faculty from September 2025 to late December 2025 to teach a destination marketing and sales class in the Tourism Marketing & Sales option of the Marketing Management diploma. This class is taught between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, in person and on campus in Burnaby, and delivered in a lecture and lab format.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Marketing credential required; BCIT business diploma an asset.
  • A minimum of 8 years proven success working in related roles.
  • Instructional experience at a polytechnic or similar applied institution is preferred; and/or experience with professional coaching or other adult learning environments.
  • An established network of relevant professional contacts in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia, and beyond.
  • Excellent English-language communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a collegial environment.
Responsibilities

The hiring committee is seeking a destination marketing and development expert with a passion for teaching and learning and strong commitment to ensuring students develop applied skills and specialized knowledge. Applicants should have 8+ years of experience in analyzing international visitor markets, use of data to inform marketing and destination development strategies, developing destination products and campaigns to attract visitor markets (ideally to Canadian destinations), best practices in managing stakeholder relationships, destination brand building, and other DMO functions. The selected candidate will need to support student learning through assignments, guest speakers, case studies, and experiential learning activities. They will also be expected to provide mentorship, industry insights, and career advice to students, and contribute to curriculum updates, program development, and external partnerships.
The right candidate will demonstrate strong self-direction and leadership, the ability to adapt to new working environments quickly and self-sufficiently, and a commitment to the next generation of marketers (as evidenced by mentoring or similar experience).
