JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Quantum Nanoscience at the Faculty of Applied Sciences of Delft University of Technology invites candidates for an academic career track assistant professor position in the theory of quantum information nanoscience to complement, extend and strengthen the department’s competence in quantum matter, quantum sensing, and quantum transduction.
Quantum physics has been blooming in recent years as a hotbed of scientific and technological innovation with a broad research landscape explored by a worldwide community. Our department’s research programme focuses on new strategies to 1) design, build and characterize quantum materials, 2) develop quantum sensors endowed with the ultimate sensitivity of quantum probes, and 3) convert quantum information between different systems by means of transduction. From these research areas, the fundamental building blocks of future quantum technologies will emerge. We aspire to play a leading role in the ongoing endeavor to unlock the tremendous potential for innovation that lies in the quantum world.
We are looking for a promising theoretical physicist with recognized expertise in the field of quantum information processing in condensed-matter many-body physics. The candidate is expected to collaborate closely with experimental groups, both locally and on an (inter)national level, on the implementation of non-trivial dynamics in many-body quantum systems.
Candidates should have a successful scientific track record and be able to formulate an independent research program addressing current scientific and technological challenges. The candidate is expected to participate in the teaching of courses offered by the Applied Physics faculty both at the undergraduate and at the graduate level.
Consideration of applications for a tenured associate or full professor level position may be given to qualified individuals.
The Department of Quantum Nanoscience is part of the Kavli Institute of Nanoscience Delft - one of the first five Kavli Institutes. For more information, please see https://qn.tudelft.nl.
