Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

The FIF Social Worker role is unique, offering the opportunity to use your social work training and skills to creatively engage with and empower families to make meaningful changes. This role involves a mix of statutory assessments, building positive relationships with schools, and contributing to a multiagency team of specialists and family support workers within FIF.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Around the School: Support the delivery of our Team Around the School offer by holding regular meetings with schools to discuss concerns about children and young people not open to Children’s Services. Use Signs of Safety in meetings, assist schools in mapping and planning for children and families, and convene surgeries for schools to manage professional anxiety.
  • Statutory Social Work: Undertake statutory social work tasks, including Section 7 reporting to court, Section 85 assessments, and assessments for families with intentionally homeless children.
  • Practice Approaches: Use practice approaches consistent with Bristol’s Practice Framework, such as Signs of Safety and Network Building.
