Description Head Start Birth-5 has an opening for a full-time Family and Social Services Specialist working 35 hours per week. This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining records, advocating for vulnerable individuals, and aiding with providing social services to students, staff, and families to improve well-being, and overcome life challenges. Train staff in parent and family engagement, social services, child abuse and neglect, mental health, and staff wellness as required by the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Presence at each Head Start facility is required frequently, on an as-needed basis, and/or as directed. This position will complete duties and responsibilities as they relate to the Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Day Care Licensing Regulations, CACFP Guidelines, and Head Start Birth-5 Forms and Procedures Manual. Requirements An associate’s degree in social services, human services, early childhood education, psychology, or other related areas required. Family Service Credential or CDA and two years of experience in human or social services may be considered if willing to further education. Bachelor degree preferred. Must meet Head Start and Indiana Childcare Licensing Regulations, including Head Start Standards of Conduct, federal and state criminal history requirements, sex offender registry checks, drug screen, physical and complete an annual T.B. test.
