HospiceCare North Northumberland is a charity that provides end of life care, bereavement support and activities for those with dementia across North Northumberland. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion to support adults at a vulnerable time in their lives.
The post holder will have a key role in developing the service to meet the needs of our client base while providing counselling/support to bereaved families in North Northumberland, raising clinical standards and promoting a learning environment for other health and social care providers. The post holder will also identify opportunities for income generation to support services development, including the provision of Wellbeing services to local businesses. The post holder will be responsible for triaging and allocating referrals to appropriate person & carrying a case load. They will manage and support the student counsellors and active listening volunteers.

Main Duties of Post:

  • To agree a caseload with the Head of Care Services commensurate to the hours worked
  • Develop the service to meet the needs of the community
  • Work with other team members such as resident counsellor to ensure triage referral process meets the needs of the service
  • To ensure that all external funders outcomes are met and that we are responsive to the needs of the Community
  • To work in partnership with other agencies to provide seamless support for pre and post bereavement clients
  • To empower clients to develop their long-term coping strategies following bereavement
  • To ensure that practice remains up to date and evidence based
  • To liaise with nursing colleagues where necessary regarding patients and clients
  • To maintain client confidentiality at all times and work within GDPR regulations
  • To be aware of and work towards achievement of the Hospices’ strategic goals
