Job Title: Family Engagement Worker – Remand
Location: HMP Preston.
Responsible To: POPS’ Lead Family Engagement Worker.
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week.
Salary: £24,043.50pa. plus 3% pension contribution.
Contract: 12 Months.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POST

Working within the prison establishment and in the community in the Preston area, the focus of the role is to ensure prisoners on remand at HMP Preston, their children, families have access to advice, guidance and 1-1 support to enable positive and supportive relationships to be maintained throughout the remand period and enable family members to prepare effectively for court appearances and next steps.
NB: Obtaining enhanced DBS and passing prison vetting process is essential to this role

MAIN TASKS

· Ensure all prisoners on remand are made aware of POPS’ family support service on induction into the establishment.
· Support prisoners on remand and their loved ones to retain positive relationships and communication during the remand period
· Work both inside the prison and in the community in the Preston area
· Develop individual action plans to ensure need are met and outcomes achieved
· Host online or face to face family information forums to provide information regarding the remand process.
· Engage with appropriate community agencies in the Preston area to respond to the identified needs of prisoners’ children, families. Including signposting where appropriate
· Provide 1-1 support for family members via online or face to face in the community for Preston based families
· Provide support for those prisoners on remand not receiving visits
· Maintain accurate case management information using POPS’ IT based CRM system.
· Communicate with prison Offender Management Unit, Prison Key Workers and other agencies to ensure appropriately and timely sharing of information
· Attend and contribute to prison-based meetings when required
· Participate in training that is considered relevant to the post.
· To work flexibly, 5 days per week (daytime hours) over Monday - Saturday on a rota basis
· Ensure all POPS’ and prison relevant policies and procedures are adhered too.
· Carry out additional relevant tasks as assigned by line manager.
