LAW CLERK/LEGAL ASSISTANT

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented law clerk/legal assistant to join our legal team. The law clerk/legal assistant will be responsible for performing clerical work, assisting attorneys in various legal tasks, and managing client communications. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of our legal processes and providing support to our clients through meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with law, legal procedures, protocols, and court system.
  • Knowledge of electronic filing of documents through CaseLines and Ontario Portal.
  • Experience using DivorceMate, PC Law, Outlook, and Word.

Job Details:
Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
In person at office.

Responsibilities
  • Provide executive-level administrative support to lawyers and enhance office effectiveness.
  • Prepare/transcribe, edit, format, and revise correspondence, litigation documents, forms, and other documentation.
  • Proofread documents/correspondence, check for appropriate formatting, spelling, grammar, etc.
  • Manage client communications, including performing client intake, answering the telephone and email.
  • Record and monitor court appearance dates, pleadings and filing requirements.
  • Maintain organized records and files, ensuring easy retrieval of information.
  • Manage key dates and update calendar for lawyers, including meetings, appointments, due dates, client-related and personal activities.
  • Enter dockets; liaise with the Accounting department.
  • Exhibit professional phone etiquette when communicating with clients, courts, and other stakeholders.
