QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Law Clerk or Legal Assistant Diploma (or equivalent certification)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Family Law Clerk in a law firm
  • Solid understanding of Ontario family law procedures, court forms, and timelines
  • Excellent drafting, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A positive and compassionate demeanor with a strong sense of empathy for clients navigating emotionally challenging situations
Responsibilities
  • Draft legal documents including Applications, Affidavits, Financial Statements, Case/Settlement Conference Briefs, Separation Agreements, Parenting Plans, Orders, and Net Family Property Statements
  • Prepare and file court documents electronically using Adobe Acrobat and applicable e-filing platforms
  • Conduct conflict checks and open new client files in accordance with firm protocols
  • Organize and manage financial disclosure and ensure compliance with Family Law Rules
  • Maintain accurate dockets and track deadlines throughout the file lifecycle
  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate court appearances, mediations, and other appointments
  • Liaise professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and third parties
  • Provide general administrative support through all stages of a file, from intake to resolution
