JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Family Lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of family law, including divorce, child custody, and adoption matters. This role requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to negotiate effectively, and a commitment to advocating for clients’ best interests. The Family Lawyer will be responsible for providing legal advice, representing clients in court, and ensuring that all legal documents are accurately drafted and filed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Law Society of B.C.
  • Proven experience in family law or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents.
  • Excellent research skills with proficiency in using legal research databases
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with a focus on achieving amicable resolutions for clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and court personnel.
  • A commitment to ethical practice and maintaining client confidentiality at all times.
    Job Type: Full-time
    Pay: $60,000.00-$211,665.58 per year

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice to clients on family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and property settlements.
  • Conduct thorough research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis to support case preparation and strategy development.
  • Draft legal documents, including petitions, motions, and settlement agreements with precision and attention to detail.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes while minimizing conflict.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and negotiations with professionalism and confidence.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions and case progress while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Stay updated on changes in family law legislation and best practices to provide informed legal counsel.
