About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Family Lawyer to join our legal team in the Greater Toronto Area. The successful candidate will handle complex family law matters while providing compassionate and strategic legal counsel to clients during challenging personal circumstances.
About Us:
We are a small busy family law firm with three lawyers, an articling student, law clerk and office manager. We are seeking to add another lawyer to our team who shares our values with respect to practicing family law from a client centered approach.
We have a main office in Markham and a satellite office in Burlington, Ontario. We are hoping to add a permanent office in downtown Toronto soon.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in all aspects of family law including divorce proceedings, child custody and access disputes, spousal and child support matters, property division, and domestic contracts
- Conduct legal research and draft comprehensive legal documents including separation agreements, marriage contracts, court pleadings, and factums
- Appear before the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, and Court of Appeal on behalf of clients
- Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution processes including mediation and collaborative family law
- Provide strategic legal advice on complex matrimonial property matters
- Mentor junior lawyers and articling students
- Develop and maintain client relationships while managing a substantial caseload
- Stay current with developments in family law legislation, case law, and practice procedures
Required Qualifications
- Call to the Ontario Bar with a minimum of 3-5 years of family law experience
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation
- Strong litigation and negotiation skills with proven courtroom experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience with high-conflict custody cases and complex financial matters
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with support staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Collaborative Family Law or Family Mediation

Work Location:
Hybrid/Remote – While we enjoy coming together as a team at the Markham office location, we are open to considering candidates for primarily remote roles as we are hoping to expand our Burlington client base in particular.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $56,877.82-$153,196.17 per year
