Job Title: Family Law Team Assistant
Location: Hornchurch

Must have family law legal assistant experience to be considered

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Solid working knowledge of family law, including legal processes and terminology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with legal software (e.g. P4W, BigHand, Land Registry, Oyez) is desirable
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive, with a positive “can-do” attitude and a solution-focused approach
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A team player who can also work independently and take initiative

ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly organised Family Law Team Assistant to join a busy and dynamic family law department. This hands-on role offers excellent variety and requires someone who can confidently manage multiple tasks while providing high-quality support to the legal team.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of family law procedures who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and is looking to further develop their career within a supportive team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage busy lawyer diaries, handle travel arrangements, expenses, meeting preparation, and general day-to-day support
  • Conduct essential compliance checks including conflict of interest, money laundering, and ID verification
  • Draft and format legal documents, complete forms, and assist with client documentation as required
  • Provide high-quality audio and copy typing support (experience with BigHand is an advantage)
  • Liaise professionally with clients, external third parties, and other departments including accounts and marketing
  • Handle new business enquiries, manage follow-ups, and maintain accurate records
  • Deliver a high standard of client care, both over the phone and in person
  • Assist with reception cover and general office support when needed
