Job Purpose Statement: As a Family Liaison and Attendance Officer, you have the important task of connecting families and providing assistance to those in need. You will be the bridge between the families and the individual and the resources that can help meet their needs. You will work with families to assess their individual needs and provide them with support and resources. You will be responsible for developing and implementing programmes and services to meet the needs of the families. Being able to identify when extra support is needed, understanding thresholds, have an understanding of the referral process and the various outside agencies. You will also be responsible for providing education and training to families, as well as advocating on their behalf. You will liaise with the tutors and safeguarding lead before attending PEPs for looked after children and ensure a comprehensive view of their progress is shared and reviewed regularly. You will also closely monitor and report on education attendance, analysing data to identify key areas of concern. To work closely with pupils, staff, parents and carers to reduce levels of absence, increase family engagement and improve student outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Have the ability to build constructive and professional relationships with parents/carers, the wider community, outside agencies, young people and staff.
  • Show initiative and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of Sports Connect and have the ability to draw on a wide range of support services, information, opportunities and guidance.
  • Take a flexible approach to working.
  • Follow company processes.
  • Collect evidence and information from families.
  • To attend PEP meetings for LAC and ensure these are reviewed in a timely manner.
  • Use strong communication skills to listen and empathise with families and key stakeholders.
  • Use intervention strategies to encourage high levels of attendance and punctuality.
  • Keep accurate records of pupil attendance and lateness.
  • Monitor pupil attendance and lateness on a daily basis.
  • Any other duties outlined by line manager, senior lead team and board of directors.
  • Organising student/parent meetings, as well as liaising with the stakeholders.
  • Interact with students, parents, staff either on the phone, email or in person and to maintain a professional approach at all times.
  • Take phone messages and pass them on to the relevant member of staff.
  • Photocopying any relevant documents.
