Job Title: Family Liaison Officer
Reporting To: Attainment and Skills Manager
Contractual Status: Fixed-Term Contract (35 hours per week)
Proposed Contract Start Date: 12th August 2025
Contract End Date: 11th August 2026
Salary: £25,000.00 per annum
Annual Leave Entitlement: 25 days, plus 9 public holidays, plus 3 days for Christmas shutdown

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • Experience of planning and delivering needs led programmes by working alongside schools, local people, and other organisations in a strategic working group to meet the needs of the pupils and their families within the school catchment area.
  • Have sound knowledge of the issues faced by children, young people, adults, and families.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including databases.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • The drive and initiative to work independently.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Organised and systematic approach to monitoring and reporting.
  • Ability to facilitate group work sessions.
  • Ability to motivate individuals facing barriers.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Educated to minimum SCQF level 7 in a relevant field or have a minimum of 4 years relevant experience.

The successful candidate will be based within a Secondary School. However, there will be a requirement to travel to our main office based in Easterhouse, as and when required.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

We have an exciting opportunity for a Family Liaison Officer to join our growing team on a fixed term basis. Reporting to the Attainment and Skills Manager, you will work alongside the wider FARE Scotland team and school staff to help maximise the potential of local facilities to meet the needs of school pupils and local people of all ages. Developing interventions to tackle poverty, its symptoms and close the attainment gap through educational and social activities, including volunteering and mentoring opportunities.

As part of your role, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and participating in the delivery of a range of joint and needs identified activities.
  • Ensuring the collection and collation of statistics as required to ensure continued funding and for progress reports to the school’s senior leadership team, FARE Scotland’s board of directors and various funding bodies.
  • Working closely with the FARE Scotland senior leadership team and school staff to develop, promote and organise family liaison services.
  • Raising attendance issues with parents, meeting with both pupils and parents in order to support them to improve attendance and/or attainment.
  • Attending meetings with the school’s senior leadership team and other agencies that can support students that are a concern to successfully improve their attendance and/or qualifications.
  • Ongoing monitoring of attendance of pupils identified as non-attenders and/or those at risk of falling out of the academic structure.
  • Establishing activities which will promote the personal, social, educational, and material welfare of the young people and their families.
  • Ensuring the collection and collation of statistics as required to evaluate the project’s impact and progress.
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of FARE Scotland and the school’s attainment program for at risk young people.
  • Establishing and maintaining contact with relevant outside agencies.
  • Maintaining all records in accordance with guidelines from FARE Scotland and the school.
  • Promoting the values and objectives of FARE Scotland.
  • Participating in fund raising activities and the development of funding applications.
