JOB TITLE: FAMILY SELF-SUFFICIENCY (FSS) COORDINATOR

Type: Full-Time, 10-hour shifts from Monday – Thursday

The Boise City & Ada County Housing Authorities has an opening for a full time Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) Coordinator. This is a grant-funded position. The primary function of the position includes maintaining a caseload of Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher participants and providing them with ongoing support to assist them in achieving self-sufficiency through needs assessments, goal setting, and coordination of services.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of HUD rules and regulations; case management, principles of casework, intervention, and referral services; social needs of lowincome families.
  • Familiarity with human services agencies and services.
  • Computer skills including proficiency with Word, Excel and aptitude for working with complex databases preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social services, human services, psychology, or related field and oneyear experience in social service agency; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • HUD rules and regulations.
  • Case management principles, intervention, and referral services.
  • Social needs of lowincome families.
  • Human services agencies and services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred oneyear experience in a human services program or equivalent education and experience.
  • Valid Idaho State driver’s license.

  • Conduct needs assessments to develop Individualized Training and Services Plans.
  • Facilitate participant engagement in goaloriented activities through: o Oneonone meetings.
  • Referrals to community agencies and services. oAdvocacy, problem-solving, and ongoing assessments.
  • Track participants’ progress and revise service plans as needed.
  • Coordinate services with other providers and case managers.
  • Maintain accurate and complete case files.
  • Prepare reporting data and write reports as required.
  • Provide information about programs and services to agencies, clients, and the public.
  • Explain policies, procedures, and regulations.
