SUMMARY: (Cemetery) Family Service Counselor will: Serve all at-need Families by scheduling burial services for those served by the Cemetery Establish and maintain a comprehensive pool of Catholic Presiders for burial services. Present list of potential Presiders to Cemetery Manager for review and approval bi-annually. Responsible for scheduling Catholic Presiders for burial services. Serve as a Presider only in the event of an emergency or unusual circumstance when a Catholic Presider is unavailable. Responsible for maintaining a list of and scheduling Catholic priests to preside over the monthly Memorial Mass in collaboration with the diocesan Office of Senior Priests. Provide guidance and counseling to the families and individuals served by the Cemetery Facilitate an individual or family’s introduction to an appropriate Catholic Community Arrange and schedule presentations of Cemetery Services and Catholic Burial Rites at Catholic Parishes and other venues Advocate and administer the Kingdom of Heaven Ministry Advocate and administer the Peace in Christ Ministry Provide other services for the Cemetery and Staff as directed by the Cemetery Manager Expectations include: Creating and sustaining an environment of exceptional service to the families and communities served through the Cemetery, including timely communication with all parties Support sales and marketing campaigns Accountable to meet performance goals Sustaining a mutually supportive teamwork environment Compliance with State regulations, rules and licensing requirements; particularly in the obtaining and recording of required documentation Knowledge of the Catholic faith, rituals, and traditions; especially those relating to end of life, funeral, burial and our hope in the Resurrection ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to: Assist individuals and families with making burial arrangements Work with Diocesan Clergy and Funeral Directors to facilitate the planning and carrying out of burials Handle situations with individuals and families with compassion and understanding and ensure that all appropriate needs are met or exceeded Prepare, review and process all required documentation and data entry necessary to the carrying out of burials through the Cemetery’s automated system Create and sustain networking and cemetery ministry related activities with the community (parishes, funeral homes and other organizations), record same through the Cemetery’s automated system Perform Memorial Advisor services and duties as required Perform day-to-day administrative duties as required Other duties as assigned by the Cemetery Manager Requirements QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Be an Ordained Deacon of the Diocese of Orlando; or a Deacon with faculties to serve in the Orlando Diocese High School diploma or equivalent Qualify for a Preneed Sale License issued by the Florida Division of Funeral, Cemetery, and Consumer Services Division High level of compassion and integrity In depth understanding of and the ability to convey Catholic theology, teachings and practices related to the end of life and our hope in the Resurrection Above average communications (oral and written), listening and office administration skills Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving skills Ability to multi-task and set priorities Two or more years of experience in the use of mobile computing devices and use of automated business systems Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage as per policy WORKING CONDITIONS The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day Must be available in the evenings and weekends, as scheduled or as needed Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure Use of personal automobile (mileage will be reimbursed per policy) Standing and walking on uneven surfaces Stooping, crouching and kneeling Reaching forward and overhead
Responsibilities
