JOB SUMMARY

The Family Services Lead is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of family services programs and for providing developmentally and culturally appropriate programs that address the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical needs of children aged newborn to 14 years old , whose parents are undergoing detox and rehab treatment at our centre.
This is a full-time role with 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Rate of pay : $ 40.00/hour
We are looking for a team-oriented and reliable leader who is often described as authentic, organized, approachable, and responsible. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication and relationship-building skills and be confident in supporting families through a trauma-informed care perspective.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

· Diploma in Human Services , Degree in Early Childhood Development or other related certification
· Ability to exercise patience when dealing with children
· Respectful of cultural diversity
· Organized, resourceful and able to follow a schedule
· Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history, culture, practices, customs, and beliefs, including unresolved trauma, stressors, domestic violence, addiction, and mental health
· Ability to communicate effectively
· Ability to work independently and multitask
· Client-oriented and friendly
· Time management skills
· Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs
· First Aid/CPR would be an asset
· Having a valid class 5 Manitoba Driver’s license would be an asset
· Successful applicants will be subject to provide a Police Record Check/Police Vulnerable Sector Check (Winnipeg Police Service)

Responsibilities
  • Develop and perform cognitive and behavioral assessment on the children
  • Plan culturally appropriate and age-appropriate ways of keeping children actively engaged
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
    · Develop and implement healthy menus
    · Collaborate with parents to reinforce positive parenting strategies

· Manage staff daily activities, including scheduling, training, task assignment, program delivery, and mentoring

  • Assist in the development of organizational and program goals
  • Assist in the development of individualized care plans and therapeutic interventions
  • Coordinate services with case workers, social workers, indigenous agencies, medical personnel, educational facilities in a multi-disciplinary collaboration manner
  • Plan programs of assistance for residents and their children including referral to agencies that provide financial assistance, legal aid, housing, medical treatment, and other services
  • Provide mediation services and psychosocial assessments

· Interact and collaborate with internal departments in collaborative activities and projects

  • Ensure orientation and training of new staff members, and on-going training of staff members
  • Monitor daily paperwork, progress reports, and critical incident reports
  • Provide and assist with after-hours and on-call coverage

· Communicate daily with management for updates and coordination
· Collaborate with HR department in matters related to hiring, attendance, termination, discipline, performance evaluations and training
· Attend meetings with management and produce related reports
· Develop, facilitate, and assign instructional, educational, and counselling sessions
· Assist in the performance of one-on-one therapy counselling
· Collaborate with addictions counsellors and residents to develop individual-centered and strength-based recovery plans
· Perform a wide variety of administrative duties
· Follow the rules, policies, and regulations of the Detox Centre of Manitoba
