A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE

An exciting opportunity has arisen within North Lanarkshire to be part of a new early help family support service. Funded by North Lanarkshire HSCP, the service will provide holistic support for the whole family.
This is a new and innovative service within North Lanarkshire and you’ll play a key role in developing this alongside families and community partners. The service is a collaboration between four charities: Barnardo’s, Action for Children, Home Start GNNL) and Impact Arts and you will work closely with colleagues from these organisations.
We’re looking for experienced staff to carry out an outreach Support Role, across the North Lanarkshire area, based in or around community hubs/schools/nurseries and family homes. The aim of the service is to enable families to access supports at the earliest possible time, ensuring a “no wrong door” approach.
Referrals will be received within the North Lanarkshire area from families themselves or from external agencies such as social work, health or education. The service will operate 7 days a week between the hours of 8am and 8pm, 365 days a year.
You’ll be part of an integrated team bringing together staff from each organisation. Each integrated staff team will have responsibility for delivering services within area hubs.

Some key responsibilities of the Family Support Practitioner role will be:

  • Understanding the issues impacting children and families in North Lanarkshire and have experience of supporting individuals through these issues using a strength based approach.
  • Supporting the start-up of this new service and developing relationships with local families and other organisations / agencies
  • Understanding the needs of families across various localities within North Lanarkshire and offering groups and 1:1 supports to build on strengths
  • Undertaking / co-producing strengths based assessments with families and identifying shared goals and outcomes
