Job Description
Family Support Specialist
Hours: full-time positions, hours vary upon position needs and may include evenings and weekends

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in an appropriate discipline is preferred. Lived experience in adoptions, guardianship, and kinship, and parenting is preferred.
  • Organizational skills, attentions to detail, sound judgment, integrity and the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Lived experience with Adoption, Fostercare, or Kinship is a plus, but not a requirement.

Responsibilities

A. Providing support services to families in their home, at the AAN office, or other locations, travel is required.
B. Using evidence-based interventions as appropriate. Staff must become specialized in supporting Adoptive, Foster, and Kinship families by attending training sessions.
C. Maintain and document ongoing communication with the family about the course of intervention.
D. Attend all special events and functions as decided by supervisor.
E. Answer messages from clients as needed.
F. Provide direct support services to adoptive, kinship, and foster families to promote family stability and prevent disruption.
G. Collaborate closely with the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids (WWK) team to understand and integrate program goals and practices into family support efforts.
H. Deliver services under the Ongoing Adoption and Kinship Support (OAKS) program, including individualized family support, resource navigation, and family coaching.
I. Plan, coordinate, and facilitate family engagement events such as:
- Family Forums
- OAKS Support Team (ST) gatherings
- Play Together Stay Together events
J. Build trusting relationships with families to assess needs, identify strengths, and develop tailored support plans.
K. Serve as a liaison between families and community resources, ensuring access to mental health, educational, and social services.
L. Support the mission and values of Adopt America Network through compassionate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed service delivery.
M. Develop relationships with area organizations that can provide helpful services to clients.
N. Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
