Position Purpose:
The Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma seeks a passionate individual to ensure the integration of services available to Children, Families and Community is comprehensive, accessible and conducive to the needs of the tribal community. The Family Support Specialist will work within the internal partnerships between programs to help ensure streamlined services for families enrolled in the Early Childhood Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all information regarding families, co-workers and self in

accordance with the Early Childhood departmental confidentiality policy.

  • Assist families in completing and submitting enrollment applications, and in providing resources to families, under the direction of the Family Engagement Coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records within the Early Childhood Family database.
  • Participate in parent conferences, under the direction of the Family Engagement Coordinator.
  • Participate in design, updating and distribution of program documents, flyers, parent handbooks, and department staff handbooks.
  • Contribute to child abuse prevention family meetings, attending and hosting meetings in the evening, in conjunction with the Early Childhood team, intermittently throughout the year.
  • Operate various office equipment; be a resource to other staff
  • Answer multi-line telephone in a timely, courteous and professional manner, accurately receive and disseminate messages; keep staff phone extension list and staff roster current.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • An Associate’s degree in related field is preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience
  • Experience working with state licensing requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Outstanding organizational abilities and must be able to prioritize.
  • Productive and effective time management, flexibility in responding to a variety of work tasks.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand federal documents.
  • Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with families.
  • Ability to utilize agency resources, technology and library to appropriately answer questions and provides guidance to staff and parents.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Frequent driving to sites, training and home visits sometimes in outlying areas

Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License and Insurance.
