Family Support Worker
Job Type: Full-time
Salary - Circa £26,150 DOE
First Blue Family Assessment are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Worker to join our team at a Residential Family Centre based in Stafford. Our Family Support Workers will provide a range of support services to families residing in the centre, with the aim of promoting their well-being, enhancing family dynamics, and facilitating their successful transition to independent living.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Experience working with children and families is desirable
  • Have a passion to work with families and support positive parenting
  • Have the desire to improve family relationships and assist in building the foundations of a positive home environment
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Is empathetic and able to support families through an assessment process
  • Who is computer literate and able to work in a paperless environment

Responsibilities
  1. Engage with families in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner, building rapport and trust to establish positive working relationships.
  2. Provide practical and emotional support to families, offering guidance on parenting skills, child development, budgeting, and navigating community resources.
  3. Assess and address potential safeguarding concerns, reporting any instances of abuse or neglect and ensuring appropriate action is taken
  4. Implement activities and interventions in accordance with the National Minimum Standards for Family Residential Centres to promote the well-being and development
    of families, including but not limited to:
  5. Facilitating parent-child interaction sessions, promoting positive parenting techniques, and enhancing family communication.
  6. Supporting families in accessing education, employment, and training opportunities to enhance their overall self-sufficiency.
  7. Assisting families in developing essential life skills, including cooking, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  8. Collaborating with external agencies and community partners to coordinate additional support services such as counselling, substance abuse treatment, and mental
    health services as needed.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions, assessments, interventions, and related documentation in adherence to confidentiality and data protection
    guidelines.
  10. Attend regular team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to enhance knowledge, skills, and professional development.
  11. Contribute to the positive and inclusive atmosphere within the Residential Family Assessment Centre, promoting a safe and supportive environment for families.
