FAMILY TRAINING SPECIALIST

Job Summary:
The Family Training Specialist assists the Kansas Post Adoption Resource Center (K-PARC) and Kansas Caregivers Support Network (KCSN) programs in the development, management, and implementation of a variety of training programs geared at strengthening and retaining foster and adoptive families, improving competence for professionals interacting with foster and adopted children and the families caring for them, and promoting stability for the abused and neglected children.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Design, develop, and implement quality, effective training for all applicable circuits.
• Follow requirements and policies of agency, contracts, state regulations and COA standards.
• Complete documentation requirements in a timely manner.
• Ensure all required items are retained and filed to meet licensing policies.
• Ensure all monthly statistics are completed by the end of each month.
• Participate as an active team member with all agency departments (i.e. attend meetings, trainings, case consultation, etc.) so the agency’s efforts to assist clients and maintain licensing/contract/COA standards are coordinated for maximum effectiveness.
• Assist K-PARC and KCSN in developing and implementing training support groups specifically designed to meet the unique needs of relative/kinship licensed families.
• Assist in the development and planning of monthly trainings, and submit a three (3) month training calendar to the Program Manager as required.
• Analyze data to identify trends and needs for the development of future training curricula.
• Develop quality assurance measures to ensure effectiveness of training interventions.
• Monitor the quality of services and provide feedback through verbal and written documentation to the Program Manager.
• Participate in various community educational networking opportunities to educate others about FAC’s programs and to promote partnerships and sponsorships whenever possible.
• Prioritize effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Maintain strong, open communication with direct supervisor regarding services delivered, concerns, or questions.
• Coordinate and assist in the planning and facilitating of the adoptive parent retreats as a part of the K-PARC and KCSN programs.
• Facilitate and plan trainings for both the K-PARC and KCSN contracts with an emphasis on trauma related content.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred) in related human services field.
• Extensive knowledge and training in trauma-informed models of intervention such as TBRI or Trauma Free World and adoption competency (preferred)
• Demonstrates the ability to translate trauma-informed and adoption-competent content into clear, engaging trainings and PowerPoint presentations that are accessible and relevant to diverse audiences.
• Extensive knowledge in the child welfare system and fostering/adoptive experience preferred.
• Previous experience working with at-risk populations required.
• Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and proposing new ways of creating efficiencies.
• Outstanding organizational and planning skills.
• Solid commitment to the principles of support and advocacy for foster and adoptive families.
• Collaborate and advocate for positive outcomes, using excellent interpersonal skills in multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic professional teams.
• Experience utilizing virtual platforms and technology to connect with and educate families and child welfare professionals.
• Strong verbal communication skills and demonstratedskill to write clearly and persuasively.
• Demonstrated leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills. Quickly establish rapport and build trust.
• Flexible and a self-starter; multi-task while also being highly detail-oriented while meeting all deadlines.
