About us We are a nonprofit seeking talented individuals to join our mission. Our goal is to strengthen children and their families with coping skills, emotional support, and to promote healthy living habits to build successful lives.  Special Kids Special Families (SKSF) is a Colorado 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization founded in 1998 in Colorado Springs.  Duties Our Individual and Family Specialist are part of our Behavioral Health team and provide Supervised Family Visitations, Life Skills, Advocacy, Coaching, Community Support, Mentoring, and Behavioral Strategies serving families, individuals, and youth. Population We Serve * Children currently living in an out of home placement with the goal of returning home to their families.  * Parents working towards the return of their children needing support and parenting skills development to better care for and meet the needs of their children. Work Environment * Family Visitations are usually held in one of our visitation rooms.  Visits may occur in other locations. * Documentation can be completed remotely. * Flexible full-time schedule with availability Mon-Sat 9am-7:30pm. * Position requires some travel and transportation of clients. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Strong crisis management skills * Knowledge of behavioral health principles and techniques * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress situations * Attention to detail and ability to observe and assess situations accurately * Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities     Minimum Qualifications: * High School Diploma with one year of experience in the Human Services Field and/or Peer Certification. * Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice or similar.
Responsibilities
Provide supervised family visitations, life skills coaching, and behavioral strategies for children and parents. Support families in achieving the goal of returning children to their homes through advocacy and community support.
