Description

Swindon Borough Council are on an exciting journey to transform service delivery. We want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision in the new Swindon Plan is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you’ll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.
Based within the Swindon Integrated Adolescent Service, as our Missing from Home and Care Family Worker you will play a key role in safeguarding children by supporting the Missing Coordinator, working closely with the Police Missing Coordinator, and conducting independent Return Home Interviews (RHIs).

Responsibilities

Your role will include RHIs for children not open to Children’s Services and children open to Children’s Services who require an independent interview to explore the push and pull factors behind a missing episode. You will also risk assess cases and make referrals to Children and Families Contact Swindon, where appropriate.
To succeed in this role, you will need demonstrable experience of working with and providing support to children, young people and their families. You will be creative and motivational, able to make positive relationships with families with a solution focused mindset. You will also need resilience and the ability to manage your time well and the ability to prioritise your work.
You will need to be flexible with working hours that fit around the needs of the family.
An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this position.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
