QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience working with animals or in a farm setting is an asset.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding and occasionally less appealing tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to take on varied tasks as needed.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have strong and excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and obtain necessary certifications/licenses as required.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable part-time Farm Caretaker to join our team. This role is essential to the day-to-day care of our animals, upkeep of our facilities, and overall smooth operation of the farm. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, a love for animals, and the flexibility to take on a wide range of tasks as needed to support farm programs and activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • General care of animals; feed animals and provide fresh, clean water daily.
  • Clean animal enclosures, pick up, remove, and manage manure, and maintain safe, sanitary living spaces.
  • Inspect animals for cuts, ticks, bumps, or other health concerns, administer medication, and report any issues promptly.
  • Monitor animal behaviour for signs of illness or distress.
  • Apply insect repellent to animals when necessary and maintain cleanliness to reduce pest attraction.
  • Assist with garden upkeep, such as watering, raking, garbage pickup, and general maintenance (primarily daytime).
  • Support general maintenance, and support (within reason and ability) of repair, and building projects as needed.
  • Assist with other farm-related tasks, with other animals on the grounds like horses or their stalls, when needed.
  • Option for additional paid hours as a barn cleaner.
