Description

Black Gold Farms has an opportunity available at its Live Oak, FL location for a Farm Technician/ Equipment Specialist. This position is a critical part of the farm operation and will assist the Farm Manager, Production Specialist, and Agronomist in all phases of farm work with the major focus on “Tour Ready,” farm efficiency, equipment, and profitability.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct and govern yourself in such a manner so that you present a positive image of Black Gold anywhere and at any time.
  • Assist in farm work as necessary by being available and arriving to work on time to begin daily operations.
  • Accept responsibility for safety and fire prevention by keeping buildings, grounds and vehicles in good repair and “Tour Ready”. Correct unsafe work conditions and bring them to the attention of the Farm Manager and/or a FLL Farm Safety Committee member immediately.
  • Keep all vehicles, machinery and facilities in a clean and field ready condition. Keep maintenance records up to date.
  • Assist the Farm Manager, Production Specialist and Agronomist as required or expected in the day-to-day operations.
  • Assist in moving trucks and equipment among farms as required.
  • Be aware of and prepared for the possibility of helping out in other Black Gold areas as needed.
  • Maintain, repair, install and operate equipment as requested or expected by the Farm Manager, Production Specialist and Agronomist. Acquire skills as required to accomplish expectations.
  • Assist the Farm Manager with all DOT and OSHA, reporting regulations by completing required documentation and working with the Farm Team to make sure Black Gold is always in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Fill out required paperwork accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Anticipate needs and perform maintenance to prevent breakdowns as directed by the Farm Manager.
  • Fabricate and/or repair parts and equipment as required so that outside fabrication services are only occasionally required.
  • Maintain a shop environment that is clean, safe and conducive to repair and fabrication as required.
  • Support a culture of ZERO tolerance for fraud, theft, immoral and/or illegal activity on or around Black Gold facilities/operations or by Black Gold employees, contractors, guests or visitors and report any and all illegal incidents to the Farm Manager immediately.
  • Supervise and train seasonal employees as required by the Farm Manager.
  • Cooperate with other full-time Black Gold employees to accomplish the above while setting an example for part-time and newer Black Gold employees or those who wish to become Black Gold employees to follow.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule including the potential to work weekends during peak seasons.
