Job Description Overview: As a Safety Intern, you will assist the Safety department in promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors. You will support safety initiatives, help ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and assist in creating a culture of safety awareness throughout the organization. This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in occupational health and safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Here's what you'll do: Understand company processes to support in the EHS department Maintain safety records electronically such as inspections, reports and training in Enablon Assist in updating environmental permits and regulations Conduct safety inspections and update as needed Learn OSHA 1910 regulations for general industry Assist in risk assessment and job hazard analysis Perform any other duties assigned by EHS leaders Qualifications Here's what you'll bring to the table: Must currently be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in related studies required Must be at least 18 years of age or older Must have a Junior or Senior college academic level with a minimum of 2.5 Overall G.P.A. and a 3.0 Major G.P.A. Valid Texas Drivers License Must have started core concentration classes in related field Computer proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Access, Word, etc. Must have excellent communication skills-verbal and written High attention to detail Team oriented and have passion for learning Candidate must have good communication skills and be able to work as a team member. Must also have good physical dexterity. Be outgoing and confident Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and co-workers While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and/or be hunched over. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. Temperatures range from 85 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit or more during the year. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
