Feed Mill Maintenance Technician Job Title: Feed Mill Maintenance Technician Location: Crawfordville, GA Employment Type: Full-Time/Hourly Reports To: Maintenance Lead Position Summary: The Maintenance Technician (Feed Mill) is a frontline employee responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on equipment and systems within a feed mill operated by a poultry processing plant. This role ensures the operational reliability of feed production machinery, such as grinders, mixers, pelletizers, and conveyors, by conducting repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting under the guidance of the Maintenance Lead or Supervisor, supporting consistent feed supply for poultry operations while adhering to safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: * Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of feed mill equipment, including mechanical systems and electrical components. * Conduct preventive maintenance tasks as assigned, such as lubricating bearings, replacing belts, or cleaning dust collectors to prevent equipment failures. * Respond to machinery malfunctions during production, executing repairs to minimize downtime. * Use tools and diagnostic equipment to identify and fix mechanical or electrical problems. * Assist in maintaining grain handling systems and dust control equipment, ensuring safe operation. * Report completed repairs, parts used, and ongoing issues to the Maintenance Lead or Supervisor. * Ensure compliance with safety regulations and feed quality standards during maintenance activities. * Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized, managing dust and grain residue to meet sanitation and safety guidelines in a feed mill environment. * Support the Maintenance Lead or Supv during emergency repairs or major equipment overhauls. * Notify supervisors of significant equipment failures or supply needs promptly. Qualifications: * High school diploma; technical training or cert. in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance. * Experience in industrial maintenance, ideally in a feed mill or grain processing environment. * Ability to work in a dusty, noisy feed mill environment with exposure to grain dust, temperature variations, and machinery hazards. * Technical skills in repairing mechanical and electrical systems specific to feed production. * Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, or work orders to perform repairs accurately. * Problem-solving skills to diagnose and address equipment issues efficiently. * Physical stamina to stand, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs during maintenance tasks or inspections. * Willingness to learn and follow instructions from Maintenance Leads or Supervisors. * Basic understanding of safety and food safety practices. Work Environment: * Work is performed throughout the feed mill, including production areas, mechanical rooms, and grain storage zones, with exposure to dust, noise, and occasional temperature extremes. * Protective gear (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots) provided and required. * Shift work, including nights, weekends, or on-call hours, may be required.
