Department Paediatrics and Child Health Entity Medical College Location Karachi, Pakistan Introduction Aga Khan University chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research, and health care of international standards relevant to Pakistan and the region. The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health is committed to providing state-of-the-art clinical services to children. It imparts high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate training and carries out community-oriented research of public health importance. The Department consists of a group of dedicated full-time and part-time Faculties. Besides the outpatient clinics, the inpatient set-up consists of a Paediatric Ward with two units comprising 84 beds, a dedicated 5-bed area for Paediatric Neurology, and a Neonatal Section comprising a state-of-the-art neonatal unit of 24 beds with provision of level 4 care. In addition, a 10-bed level 2 care along with 2 postnatal nurses for level 1 care. Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Fellow Medical Officer in the Section of Paediatrics Infectious Diseases, Department of Paediatrics & Child Health. Responsibilities You will be responsible to: • Provide inpatient and outpatient clinical care in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. • Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric infectious conditions, including complex and drug-resistant infections. • Work as a Fellow within the Infectious Diseases Service, Department of Paediatrics, as per assigned rotations. • Supervise, teach, and mentor residents and medical students. • Participate in academic activities including case presentations, journal clubs, mortality meetings, and grand rounds. • Apply principles of hospital infection control, outbreak investigation, and rational antibiotic use. • Ensure appropriate use of diagnostic investigations and evidence-based clinical practices. • Undertake research projects and contribute to scholarly activities, including literature review and manuscript preparation. • Communicate effectively with patients and families and collaborate within multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Requirements • MBBS from a recognized institution with a postgraduate qualification such as FCPS / MCPS / DCH / DAEP (or equivalent). • Minimum four (4) years of residency training in Pediatrics. • Demonstrated clinical competence in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. • Strong teaching, supervision, and mentoring skills. • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate leadership qualities. • Excellent communication and counseling skills for patients and families. • Interest in research, academic writing, and scholarly activities. • Knowledge of hospital infection control practices, rational antibiotic use, and evidence-based medicine. Responsibilities
