CARE WORKER - CHILDREN

Are you looking for additional shifts or a flexible role that fits around your existing schedule? We have an excellent opportunity for dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to provide care for a young child on alternate Saturdays.
The shift is flexible and last 6 hours, making this role perfect for those seeking extra work or a chance to make a meaningful impact in their spare time.
This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting those with complex needs and want to make a positive difference in their lives.

*Key Responsibilities *

  • Provide attentive supervision to ensure child’s safety and well-being
  • Assist with mobility, including transfers to/from electric wheelchair
  • Support child’s daily activities and routines

Medical Care

  • Monitor and report any changes in child’s condition, including:
  • Muscle tone and strength
  • Respiratory function
  • Skin colour changes (circulation)
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms
  • Assist with medication administration as directed
  • Support feeding regimen (child is nil by mouth, has trans gastric/JEJ tube)
  • Perform bowel washouts as needed for constipation management
  • Assist with bathing and personal hygiene

Therapeutic Support

  • Engage child in age-appropriate activities to support development
  • Implement exercises or stretches as recommended by physical/occupational therapists
  • Assist with use of sensory room equipment

Communication and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of child’s daily activities, medications, and health status
  • Communicate effectively with parents and healthcare team
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies
